The southernmost province of Ca Mau needs to make a major breakthrough in boosting production, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung during his visit to the province on March 7.

At the meting, provincial leaders briefed Deputy PM Hung on the socio-economic situation in 2010 and key tasks for this year.

Mr Hung praised Ca Mau’s efforts to achieve a relatively high economic growth rate with per capita income and State revenues reaching more than US$1,000 and  nearly VND2,000 billion, respectively. There has been remarkable progress in infrastructure development, poverty reduction.

2011 is the first year of implementing the 11th National Party Congress’s resolution and conducting the 13th National Assembly and People’s Council elections. The Government’s resolution underlines the need to curb inflation, stabilise the macroeconomy and ensure social welfare as the key tasks for this year, stressed Mr Hung.

Deputy PM Hung asked the local Party and administration committees to well implement the Government’s resolution and fulfill socio-economic tasks set for this year by speeding up business and production and ensuring social welfare to improve living standards for local people, particularly social policy beneficiaries.
