Bulgaria’s National Assembly Chair cherishes special ties with Vietnam

The Bulgarian people have always held a special affection for the Vietnamese people, said Bulgarian National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova during her recent meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet.

Congratulating Vietnam on the 80th National Day anniversary, Kiselova expressed delight at the positive development of bilateral ties over the past 75 years, particularly through high-level visits and contacts.

She praised the contributions by the Vietnamese community to Bulgaria’s socio-economic development and affirmed that her country always values its relations with Vietnam – a reliable partner with a significant geo-strategic position in Southeast Asia and Asia.

The host leader agreed with the Vietnamese diplomat’s proposals to enhance parliamentary cooperation, including promoting the activities of the parliamentary friendship groups and sharing legislative experience, considering them important drivers for bilateral ties.

She also welcomed the upcoming visit by the Vietnamese NA’s Ethnic Council delegation, pledging that the Bulgarian NA will closely coordinate to ensure the trip yields practical outcomes, further tightening the bond and cooperation between the two parliaments.

For her part, Nguyet highlighted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, the bilateral traditional friendship has been continuously consolidated and developed, with parliamentary cooperation playing a crucial role.

She appreciated the close coordination between the two parliaments, reflected in the recent high-level visits, which have helped advance cooperation in legislation, economy – trade, and experience sharing.

The ambassador expressed her hope that the two sides will continue maintaining exchanges of delegations, online meetings, and coordination at multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP).

Nguyet affirmed her commitment to making every effort during her tenure to elevate Vietnam – Bulgaria relations to a new height by promoting high-level political dialogue, strengthening the inter-governmental committee and political consultations, boosting economic, trade and investment ties, and expanding cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

She proposed several priority cooperation areas, including effective implementation of agreements between the two parliaments, more mutual visits, and increased sharing of legislative and governance experience.

She also suggested fostering economic, trade, and investment partnerships in potential sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education – training, IT, digital transformation and green transition, while enhancing cultural ties, educational cooperation, student exchanges, scholarship granting, and people-to-people connectivity.
