Vietnam attaches importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Bulgaria, emphasized Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and State President Nguyen Minh Triet while receiving Bulgarian Vice President Angel Marin in Hanoi on April 23.

During bilateral talks held earlier, State Vice President Truong My Hoa expressed hope that the Bulgarian Vice President’s visit to Vietnam will help bring traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, particularly in economics and commerce, between the two countries to a new height.

The two leaders agreed that in addition to the fine political ties, Vietnam and Bulgaria should further boost two-way trade exchanges, which remain modest at present.

Mr Marin highly valued activities run by the overseas Vietnamese community in Bulgaria and affirmed that Bulgaria will continue to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese nationals to live, study and do business in the country.

Bulgaria considers the overseas Vietnamese community as a bridge to the closer friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, said Mr Marin.

Both host and guest agreed that the two countries should coordinate closely at multilateral forums within the ASEAN-EU and ASEM cooperation frameworks.

They attended and addressed the Vietnam-Bulgaria business forum in the morning.
