General and Minister of National Defense Phung Quang Thanh briefed Mr Manh on the army’s preparations for the lunar New Year Festival (Tet).

On behalf of Party and State leaders, Mr Manh extended best wishes for Tet to all soldiers and ministry staff.

The Party leader praised the army’s contributions to the country’s achievements last year but warned that in order to fulfill 2010’s goals, it will be essential to maintain socio-political stability and ensure a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

Mr Manh called on the army to fulfill its military duties to enhance combat strength and meet the demands of national protection.

The army should continue to promote Party building, keep up morale of Uncle Ho’s soliders and make thorough preparations for Party congresses at all levels including the 9^th army Party congress in the lead-up to the 11^th Party National Party Congress, Mr Manh noted.
