Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has affirmed that the Vietnamese Government encourages British investors to cooperate and invest in long-term projects in all areas, including the financial market and public administrative management.

While receiving the Lord Mayor of London Alderman John Stuttard in Hanoi on May 2, Mr Dung briefed his guest on Vietnam’s annual economic growth which stands at around 8.5 percent in recent years. The country has successfully adjusted to a market driven economy and become a full member of the World Trade Organisation. It has also signed a number of bilateral cooperation agreements with several countries and is becoming a destination for foreign investors, including UK oil and gas companies, said Mr Dung.

Mr Stuttard praised Vietnam for its progress in socio-economic development over the last two decades and expressed his belief that the country will obtain greater achievements in the future. He said the UK is willing to cooperate with Vietnam in such areas as education and training, finance, legislation and administrative management.
