Brazilian ambassador receives Friendship Order

The Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh presented the Friendship Order to outgoing Brazilian ambassador to Vietnam, Mendonca Lima Neto, in Hanoi on February 3.

The Friendship Order is a noble State award given to foreign organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the country's development and to strengthening friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and other nations.

Over the past four years, Ambassador Neto has become a trusted friend and partner of many ministries and socio-political organizations in Vietnam and has served as a bridge between ministries, organizations, businesses and localities in the two countries.

Minister Minh praised Ambassador Neto’s contributions to boosting bilateral ties during his term in Vietnam.

Ambassador Neto expressed his pleasure with working in Vietnam and witnessing the many changes taking place in the country. He also said he was pleased with both his own country's and Vietnam's active development in many fields.

Trade and economic cooperation between the two sides has developed strongly in recent years, reaching US$1.44 billion in 2011.
