At the meeting, Mr Hung praised the great achievements that the province has made in increasing its socio-economic development growth rate in the first half of this year by 11.4 percent over the same period last year.

However, the Deputy PM said that that Bac Lieu still remains a poor province with limited economic potential, just a few projects to boost socio-economic development.   More attention should be given to education and vocational training to create a quality local workforce while ensuring the successful organisation of the Party congresses at all levels in the future, he stressed.

Mr Hung asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to work closely with Bac Lieu to speed up socio-economic development projects from now until 2020, particularly those for this year, with a focus on transport and power supply.
