Australian Governor-General praises Vietnam’s outstanding socio-economic achievements
VOV.VN - Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn has hailed Vietnam’s remarkable socio-economic development and affirmed support for stronger ties in education, culture, and people-to-people exchange.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam received Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn at the Vietnam House in Canberra onn the afternoon of July 21 (local time).
Governor-General Sam Mostyn thanked Ambassador Pham Hung Tam and the heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions in Australia for their warm welcome. She fondly recalled her 1991 trip to Vietnam and expressed high regard for the country’s remarkable socio- economic development in recent years.
She also said she was impressed by images featuring Vietnam’s land and people, and particularly enjoyed watching the music video “Bac Bling” in full. She noted that young Australian artists are also exploring innovative ways to revitalize and promote Australia’s indigenous cultural and artistic values to the world.
Governor-General Mostyn voiced support for strengthening delegation exchanges at all levels between the two countries. She proposed increased sharing of experience in gender equality, expanded people-to-people exchange, and enhanced cultural and tourism cooperation. She also appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Australia to the host country.
Highlighting the importance of education cooperation in Vietnam-Australia relations, Governor-General Mostyn agreed that this is a key area enhancing connection and mutual understanding between the two peoples, while also contributing positively to Australia’s economy. She expressed particular interest and pledged to further discuss ways to facilitate the visa process for Vietnamese students studying in Australia.
For his part, Ambassador Pham Hung Tam briefed Governor-General Mostyn on the major achievements in the Vietnam–Australia relationship, especially the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024, during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Australia.
Ambassador Tam and other Vietnamese diplomatic representatives in Australia also shared information about Vietnam’s culture, history, and people, as well as the country’s major policy orientations in socio-economic development. They also expressed Vietnam’s desire to continuously augment cooperation with Australia in trade, investment, education, training, science and technology, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.
Ambassador Tam thanked the Australian side for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, work, and study in Australia, thereby enriching the country’s multicultural values and contributing to the friendship between the two nations. He also expressed hope that Australia will continue to offer greater support for Vietnamese students pursuing education there.
On this occasion, Ambassador Tam invited Governor-General Mostyn and Australian officials to enjoy a selection of traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
