The agreement was reached during talks in Hanoi in August 3 between Lieutenant General Tran Quang Khue, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Lieutenant General David Hurley, Vice Chief of the Australian Defence Force, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
They agreed that the two armies will share experience in joining the UN peacekeeping force so as to promote solidarity and mutual understanding between people and armed forces of the two countries, for the sake of peace, cooperation and friendship.
They spoke highly of the effective cooperation between the two armies in recent times, especially in the fields of military medical and training services.
The same day, Lieut. Gen. David Hurley paid a courtesy visit to Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Nghien, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
