The 42nd meeting of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) Executive Board opened in Hanoi on August 4 with the participation of 11 ASOSAI leaders.

Delegates discussed issues from previous ASOSAI meeting, a financial report for 2009, ASOSAI’s budget, training and strategy in 2011-2015, as well as the activities run by the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

In his opening speech, State Audit of Vietnam (SAV)'s Chief Auditor Vuong Dinh Hue said this was the first time Vietnam has hosted such an event which provided a good opportunity for SAV to make more substantial contributions to the ASOSAI community. Vietnam will do its utmost to make the meeting a great success, Tue stressed.

On August 5, the delegates will continue to discuss ASOSAI working group reports on the environmental audit, preparations for the 12th ASOSAI congress and cooperation between ASOSAI and the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI).

ASOSAI is an organisation based in Asia belonging to the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). Since its establishment in 1979, it has now had 45 members.

SAV officially became a member of ASOSAI in January 1997.

At the 12th ASOSAI congress held in Pakistan in 2009, SAV was elected as a member of the ASOSAI Executive Board for the 2009-2012 term.
