Transport officials from 10 ASEAN member countries and their three dialogue partners - China, Japan and the Republic of Korea – held their 27th ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting in central Da Nang City on May 27-29.
They discussed an ASEAN memorandum of understanding on cooperation in marine accident investigation, the fifth round of ASEAN air transport negotiations and a draft protocol on the implementation of the sixth commitment package on air services.
They reviewed the implementation of the ASEAN Charter, the Action Plan on the ASEAN Economic Community and a project to build an ASEAN road network.
The officials examined the ASEAN framework agreement on the facilitation of international transport and the ASEAN agreements on air services and the full freeing up of air freight and passenger services.
They welcomed the ASEAN Secretariat’s initiative to create an ASEAN transport strategy for the 2011-2015 period.
