The SOME 28 is focused on ASEAN energy cooperation in the 2010-2015 period such as ASEAN’s power grid, trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline (TAGP), coal and clean energy, energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy and other policies and plans for regional energy.
The agreements made at SOME 28 will be submitted to the AMEM 28 scheduled to open on July 22.
Other related meetings namely SOME 28+3 (with Japan, the RoK and China) and SOME 28+Russia and the US along with a dialogue between ministers and businesses, an energy exhibition, an ASEAN energy forum and an awards ceremony to honour businesses for their effective use of energy will take place on the fringe of the AMEM 28.
The AMEM 28 is expected to attract around 500 international guests, including ministers from 10 ASEAN nations, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, New Zealand, Australia, leaders from the US and Russia, the ASEAN General Secretary, the Executive Director of ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), Head of SOME delegations and entrepreneurs.
The event will involve approximately 100 Vietnamese delegates, including representatives from the relevant ministries and sectors plus foreign and domestic businesses.
