The first meeting of the Chiefs of ASEAN’s Security Agencies (MACOSA) opened in Hanoi on September 29.

General Le Hong Anh, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister for Public Security, representatives from the Government’s Office, Foreign and Defense Ministries, and chiefs of security agencies from ASEAN countries attended the event.

The meeting, themed “From vision to action: Enhancing security cooperation among ASEAN members toward building the ASEAN Political-Security Community”, focused on enhancing security cooperation among ASEAN members for the establishment of a peaceful and prosperous ASEAN Community.

Representatives of ASEAN’s Security Agencies will report on their countries’ security policies. Participants also plan to map out initiatives, programmes, and measures to promote security cooperation and mechanisms for following meetings.

The meeting is scheduled to finish on October 1.
