These activities took place at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Ministry on August 8 in celebration of ASEAN’s founding 44^th anniversary.

Participants in the event included Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Ambassadors of ASEAN member countries in Hanoi.

ASEAN leaders had selected August 8 as ASEAN Day to observe since this year by having the ASEAN flag hoisted along with the national flag of each ASEAN member country in the capital city of each country as well as at its representative office in other countries.

They said they are striving to build the ASEAN community in line with the approved roadmap with the participation of their people.

The Head of SOM (Senior Officials Meeting) ASEAN Vietnam, Pham Quang Vinh, said the colours on the ASEAN flag reflect the bloc’s principles and efforts.
