The 15th annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) concluded in Moscow, Russia, on January 25 with the adoption of more than 20 resolutions and joint communiqués, showing member parliaments’ common views and solutions for resolving regional issues.

The forum discussed a wide range of issues of international concern relating to politics, international security, economic and trade cooperation, Asia-Pacific cooperation and APFF’s activities in the future.


During the five-day forum, parliamentary members presented their points of view on regional and international issues while affirming that parliaments in the Asia Pacific region play an important role in joining hands with the Governments of APPF members’  to promote cooperation in all fields for the sake of peace, stability and development in the Asia Pacific region.  


Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly who is head of the Vietnamese delegation Nguyen Phuc Thanh said APPF15 aims to help further strengthen cooperation relations among APPF members, promote mutual understanding and resolve urgent issues put forth in the agenda.


The forum also discussed important issues relating to the regional economy such as ensuring energy security, increasing regional organisations’ role and efficiency and appreciating APPF’s support and assistance in economic cooperation programmes worked out by the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Hanoi.


Delegates stressed the role of APPF members in creating a legal foundation for the regional cooperation process.


The 16th
meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) will be held in Auckland, New Zealand next year.
