VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassadors to Laos and the US have led delegations to pay their respects to former President Khamtay Siphandone, honoring his great contributions to Laos' independence, prosperity, and the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

A delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy, Vietnamese representative agencies in Laos, and the Vietnamese community in Laos, led by Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam on April 5 laid wreaths and pay respects to former President of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), former State President and former Prime Minister of Laos.
In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the delegates observed a moment of silence to honor the top former Lao leader. On behalf of the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and other Vietnamese representative agencies, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late President Khamtay Siphandone.
The Vietnamese diplomat emphasized that former President Khamtay Siphandone was an outstanding leader, an exceptional son of the Lao people, and a revolutionary soldier who dedicated his life to the struggle for national independence, freedom, the happiness of the people, and the prosperous development of Laos.
Tam emotionally wrote in the condolence book: “The Vietnamese Embassy, representative agencies, and the Vietnamese community in Laos extend our deepest condolences to the Party, State, the people of Laos, and the family of comrade Khamtay Siphandone.”
Earlier on April 4, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung led a delegation of key officials from the Vietnamese representative agencies in Washington to express condolences and write in the condolence book at the Lao Embassy.

In his message in the condolence book, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung shared the deep sorrow of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam for comrade Khamtay Siphandone – an outstanding leader, an exceptional son of the Lao people, and a revolutionary soldier who dedicated his life to the struggle for national independence, freedom, the happiness of the people, and the prosperous development of Laos.
Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung said, "The Party, State, and people of Vietnam have lost a great friend, a close comrade, who made significant contributions to building, strengthening, and developing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos."
The Lao Ambassador also highly appreciated the gesture of General Secretary To Lam personally leading a high-ranking delegation from the Vietnamese Party and State to attend the funeral in Vientiane, and that Vietnam had declared two days of national mourning for comrade Khamtay Siphandone, demonstrating the exceptional and unique solidarity between the two parties and peoples of Vietnam and Laos."
