Newly-accredited Vietnamese ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung has committed to do his best to deepen the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership during his term.

Ambassador Hung made the commitment while presenting his credentials to Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito in Tokyo on March 2.

The diplomat also took the opportunity to convey the best regards of State President Truong Tan Sang and other Vietnamese leaders to Emperor Akihito, who has just undergone heart surgery.

Prince Naruhito expressed his appreciation to Vietnamese leaders for their sentiment and recalled his visit to the Southeast Asian nation during which he was deeply impressed by the Vietnamese people.

He also said he believes the bilateral relations will continue to grow and flourish in the future.

Later the same day, Ambassador Hung met with former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, who is also President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary League.
