Algeria, Vietnam tap potential into cooperation outcomes
VOV.VN - Potential and solid political trust between Vietnam and Algeria will be turned into increasingly concrete cooperation outcomes, particularly in economics, trade, investment, energy, oil and gas, and science and technology.
This was affirmed by Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Vu Duy Long at a reception celebrating Vietnam’s 81st National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026), held at the Vietnamese Embassy in Algiers on the evening of October 4 (local time). The event drew a large number of guests, including Algerian Minister of Veterans and Rightsholders Abdelmalek Tacherift, along with members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, and expatriates.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Vu Duy Long underscored that Vietnam and Algeria share complementary strengths, solid political trust, and an enduring friendship tested by time.
He noted that on the foundation of this historical friendship and the established Strategic Partnership framework, bilateral ties face exceptionally broad prospects.
With joint determination and efforts, the two countries are fully capable of elevating this relationship to new heights, for the practical benefit of both peoples, and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and globally.
On this occasion, the Ambassador shared with international friends and overseas Vietnamese major policies and orientations of the Party and State for the upcoming period, including the target of achieving an average GDP growth rate of 10% or higher per annum during the 2026–2030 period, while taking science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as primary drivers of the new growth model.
He noted that for the first time, foreign affairs and international integration have been identified as regular, vital tasks. Vietnam remains consistent with its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, alongside multilateralization and diversification of external relations; ensures and safeguards national interests at the highest level based on fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, and equitable, mutually beneficial cooperation; and actively and responsibly contributes to peace, friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development in the spirit of being a reliable friend, partner, and an active, responsible member of the international community.
The Ambassador expressed sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Algeria for their solidarity, support, and precious friendship extended to Vietnam, while thanking diplomatic missions, partners, and friends who have always accompanied and cooperated with Vietnam.
The commemorative program featured meaningful activities, including the screening of a documentary on Vietnam's development journey and a culinary experience highlighting rich Vietnamese cultural identity.
