Agent Orange Victims Association receives Labour Order
The State has awarded a Labour Order, second class, to the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) in recognition of its contributions to the victims of dioxin.
VAVA held a ceremony in Hanoi on July 8 to receive the title and to praise people who have assisted AO victims.
In his congratulatory letter sent to VAVA, President Nguyen Minh Triet praised VAVA and its members for their solidarity and sense of responsibility in helping the Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange.
Mr Triet said that the association has done much to create favourable conditions for the AO victims to study, work and improve their own lives.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh, who is President of VAVA, said the meeting, the second of its kind, is part of the activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the Agent Orange/Dioxin disaster in Vietnam.
Over the past half century, the disaster has continued to affect Vietnam’s ecology and human health. Victims of Agent Orange and their families continue to suffer from the aftermath of dioxin everyday.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Kien said that VAVA should continue to expand its ties with other countries and international organizations and to fight for justice of the Vietnamese victims.
