The Algeria diplomat made the affirmation to commemorate the 46th anniversary of African Day in Vietnam on May 25.
Naceur Boucherit said that Vietnam and Africa share a lot of similarities in building national independent states and developing industrialization.
The two sides have actively exchanged high-ranking delegations over the years and many African leaders will visit Vietnam to boost economic and political co-operation in the near future.
He spoke highly of the recent working visits by thousands of Vietnamese agricultural and medical experts to African countries such as Angola, Mozambique and Algeria since the 80s as a model of effective co-operation.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Africa reached only US$1 billion in 2007, and the figure doubled in 2008.
The ambassador expressed his hope that the figure will increase to US$2.5 billion in 2009 and US$3 billion in 2010.
