The meeting was also attended by previous generations of NA deputies from across the country.

65 years ago, despite hostilities inside and outside the country, Vietnamese people nationwide participated in the General Election of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, which is now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, opening up a new era for the Vietnamese nation.

At the ceremony, Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Head of the NA delegation for Thai Binh province, stressed that people from the province actively responded to the first General Election.

Today, he said, Thai Binh is one of the provinces that have a high number of voters for NA deputies.

Over the 12 tenures of the NA, deputies for Thai Binh have submitted to the NA and State many important and useful proposals regarding agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

In a meeting of former NA deputies for Bac Giang province, Duong Van Trong, Head of the provincial delegation for the 12^th NA, said that over the past 12 tenures, the provincial delegation has had a total of 121 members.

The former deputies attending the ceremony recalled their memories of their time as NA members and expressed their delight at the growth and considerable contributions of the NA during different revolutionary periods.

In the 2007-2011 term, the Quang Binh NA delegation held 169 contact meetings with more than 16,000 voters. During the NA sessions, deputies for the province upheld their responsibilities and raised many ideas for discussions as well as questioning sessions at the NA.

In the next tenure, the provincial NA delegation will use more experienced and capable specialists in legal issues and state management with the aim of making NA operations much more effective.

On January 3, the northern mountain province of Yen Bai held a ceremony to commemorate the NA’s 65^th birthday.

The President of the provincial People’s Committee, Hoang Thuong Luong, delivered a speech on the 65-year history of the provincial NA delegation. So far, Yen Bai has had 61 deputies in the NA from the first to 12^th tenures.
