This is the first major hydroelectric power project in Quang Nam province which is planned to supply 815 million KWh of electricity per year to improve its socio-economic development, and help cope with droughts and prevent floods.

On the same day, PM Dung issued an order to build the Thach My Cement Plant with a capacity of 2 million tonnes per year in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, PM Dung emphasised that the plant will become a driving force in the economy of Quang Nam province, particularly in Nam Giang. He urged the chief investor - the Xuan Thanh group - to ensure the process and quality of the project as well as labour safety and environmental protection. He also asked the Xuan Thanh group to devise a market development strategy to find outlets for its products.
