It is imperative to build a strong and transparent judicial system, said State President Truong Tan Sang during his visit to the Supreme People’s Court on August 30.

Over the past eight months, the Supreme People’s Court has dealt with more than 224,000 cases, handling 79 percent of its cases currently under investigation.

The courts at all levels have improved reconciliatory work and 52 percent of civil law cases have been handled on schedule.

In his speech, President Sang praised the court sector’s remarkable progress in trials as well as its efforts to develop a contingent of qualified staff and material facilities.

Mr Sang also pointed out some weaknesses such as the quality of trials failing to meet the requirements of judicial reform and the shortage of competent cadres.

Regarding future tasks, President Sang asked the court sector to effectively implement resolutions on judiciary work and judicial reforms, continue to improve trials, and train cadres at all levels in professional skills in order to develop high-quality human resources.
