The delegates recalled the glorious tradition of the Nghe Tinh-Soviet movement which was a golden page in the history of the struggle for national liberation and created a foundation for the success of the August Revolution in 1945.
In a speech, Vice President Doan said the Nghe Tinh-Soviet represented the revolutionary administration led by the working class. Despite existing for only a short period of time, the movement taught valuable lessons on patriotism, indomitable spirit and creativity to ultimately gain national independence. These revolutionary lessons have become a practical reality in the resistance wars for national independence and in the current Doi Moi (Renewal) process.
Mrs Doan praised the people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces for upholding the Nghe Tinh-Soviet tradition in the revolutionary periods, particularly for socio-economic development.
However, Nghe An and Ha Tinh remain poor provinces with per capita income lower than the national average, poor material resources and ineffective leadership. Local Party committees and people should make a greater effort to develop new patriotic movements, following the shining examples of great revolutionary leaders such as President Ho Chi Minh, Tran Phu and Le Hong Phong, Mrs Doan stressed.
Vice President Doan said she hopes the people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh will overcome every difficulty and challenge to lift the two provinces out of poverty and make a positive contribution to national construction and defense.
