The session reviewed the implementation of the committee’s plans in 2010 and devised tasks for months to come, focusing on preparations for the 43rd ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and other related events to be held in July as well as activities to mark the 15th anniversary of Vietnam’s membership of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Deputy PM Khiem applauded the effective work by the subcommittees, ministries and agencies which, he said, has helped country successfully perform its role as ASEAN Chair, especially in hosting the 16th ASEAN Summit Meeting and participating in world events, including the ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting, ASEAN-Guff Cooperation Council Meeting and the Word Economic Forum on East Asia.
He highlighted the significance of the upcoming events and instructed the subcommittees, ministries and agencies on preparation work from the agenda for the meetings to organisation details, laying the foundation for the 17th ASEAN Summit to be held by the end of this year.
