Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong and leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on February 20 offered incenses in commemoration of the Hung Kings at the Hung Temples historical complex in northern Phu Tho province, launched a tree-planting campaign and attended the 10th anniversary of re-establishment of Phu Tho province.

Mr Trong asked local keepers at the Hung Temples historical complex to take care of and  well preserve historical relics there and called on future generations to follow Uncle Ho’s teachings ”The Hung Kings had the merits of founding our country, we must together protect the country.”

Speaking at a ceremony to launch the tree-planting campaign, Mr Trong praised Phu Tho’s great achievements in forestation with approximately 6,000 hectares of forest being newly planted and more than 46 percent under tree coverage.  Forestation is one of the province’s six key economic programmes. Therefore, the NA Chairman asked the province to expand areas under tree coverage, to ensure the high rate of living trees and to closely link forest fire control with land and forest allocations.

At a ceremony to mark 10th anniversary of re-establishment of Phu Tho province, Mr Trong presented the Independence Order, First Class, to Phu Tho authorities.
Phu Tho should fully tap its existing potential to accelerate economic restructuring towards industrialisation and modernisation and constantly increase the quality of social and cultural activities, while upholding national cultural identities and reinforcing Party building and administrative reform, Mr Trong emphasised.

He also asked Phu Tho to make thorough preparations for the 12th National Assembly election scheduled for next May and to effectively implement the movement “Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”.
