14th National Party Congress opens, ushering in new development era
VOV.VN - The 14th National Party Congress opened solemnly on January 20, at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, and is scheduled to run from January 19 to January 25 under the motto “Solidarity- Democracy-Discipline-Breakthrough-Development.”
Held under the theme, “Under the glorious banner of the Party, joining efforts and acting in unity to successfully implement national development goals through 2030; pursuing strategic autonomy, self-reliance and self-confidence, advancing strongly in the era of the nation’s rise, for peace, independence, democracy, strength, prosperity, civilization and happiness, and steadily moving toward socialism,” the congress affirms its historical significance and conveys a clear message aimed at inspiring aspirations for national development.
On Monday morning, January 19, the congress convened a preparatory session, during which delegates voted with high consensus to approve the agenda of the preparatory meeting, the working regulations of the congress, the official agenda, and the election regulations for the 14th National Party Congress.
The congress elected a Presidium comprising 16 Politburo members, a Secretariat of five members, and a Credentials Verification Committee consisting of 13 members.
Delegates also voted with high consensus to approve the report of the Credentials Verification Committee, confirming that all 1,586 delegates convened for the congress met the eligibility requirements.
The 14th National Party Congress will discuss and adopt key documents, including the Political Report of the 13th Party Central Committee; a report reviewing theoretical and practical issues of the socialist-oriented renewal process over the past 40 years; a report reviewing 15 years of implementation of the Party Charter (2011-2025), together with proposed orientations for amendments and supplements; and a report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 13th Party Central Committee.
The congress marks a major milestone in the country’s development, opening a new era in which Vietnam is determined to realize the two centennial goals marking the founding of the Party and the nation, strive to become a high-income developed country by 2045, and advance toward a peaceful, independent, democratic, strong, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam, while steadily moving toward socialism.
