NA deputies on March 28 discussed NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong’s report on the four- year performance of lawmakers (2007-2011).
The 12th National Assembly has applied lessons drawn from the previous legislative tenures to promote the spirit of responsibility, unity and comprehensive renewal in organizational structure and operational methods.
The NA has also fulfilled its important tasks in the three key areas: law building, supervision and decision making. VOVNews reporter also noted some NA deputies’ opinions on the issue.
** Deputy Nguyen Dinh Xuan from the southern province of Tay Ninh highly appreciated the NA Standing Committee’s performance with a high sense of respnosiblity and in the spirit of democracy, openness and frankness.
He praised the NA’s efforts in reaching a consensus on the country’s major important matters and urged it to enhance its functions in a professional manner in the next tenures to meet people’s expectations.
*** Deputy Le Thi Dung from An Giang province said that in the past four years, the NA activities have proved more and more democratic and effective and voters have been very impressed by the NA’s role in building laws, supervising and making important decisions.
Regarding reports on the Capital City Law, high-speed railway and Vinashin issue, Dung highlighted thorough and careful preparations by the NA’s relevant agencies which she said have consolidated voters’ trust.
*** Deputy Pham Quoc Anh from Dong Nai province voiced his support for the NA’s renewal efforts in the three aspects of democratic openess, law building, and international integration as shown in Q & A sessions concerning important socio-economic issues.
He added that the NA has done a huge volume of work in law building, especially in compiling laws which can meet requirements for international integration.
Vietnam has also fulfilled its role as President of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Association (AIPA) and Vice President of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Organization (AIPO), and further improved its international integration.
**Deputy Tran Du Lich from Ho Chi Minh City said that all the country’s important matters were put on the agenda of the 12th NA.
He described the NA’s supreme supervision as a virtue of necessity that requires deputies to raise questions of voter concern. To increase the quality of the NA activities, he proposed increasing the number of advisory agencies.
