The 11th session of the 11th National Assembly (NA) will open on March 20 and last until April 6. During the 14 working days, the NA will hear a report reviewing its activities in the previous session and reports from the State President, the Prime Minister, the President of the Supreme People’s Court and the Head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

A press briefing was held in Hanoi on March 16 by the NA office to announce the agenda of the 11th   NA session scheduled for March 20.


During the 14 working days, the NA will hear a report reviewing NA activities in the previous session and reports from the State President, the Prime Minister, the President of the Supreme People’s Court and the Head of the
Supreme People’s Procuracy and discussed 14 other important reports which will be sent to NA deputies from 64 cities and provinces to collect their opinions.


In terms of the law-making process, the 11th session is expected to approve the draft laws on amendments and supplements to some articles of the NA Organisation Law and amendments and supplements to the increase of
a day-off for labourers to commemorate the death anniversary of Hung Kings. If the decision is passed, it will take effect this year. 


Also at this session, NA deputies will give opinions on the two draft laws on chemicals and special amnesty, discuss issues related to the country’s socio-economic development and hear a Government report on the implementation socio-economic tasks in 2007 and four key national projects.


Notably, the NA will conduct Q&A sessions and will be reported on the handling of voters’ denunciations and petitions and the implementation of
the Law on Thrift Practice and Wastefulness Prevention, and the Anti-Corruption.
