Linh Phuoc Pagoda-most unique architecture in Vietnam
VOV.VN -LinhPhuoc Pagoda, also known as Ve Chai Pagoda, is located in Da Lat City, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong. It is considered the most unique structure in Vietnam, which is delicately inlaid with thousands of broken glass and terracotta pieces.
The pagoda was built in 1949 with donations from Buddhist monks and followers of the Mahayana sect from ThuaThien – Hue and was completed in 1952. |
Most Venerable Thich Tam Vi has managed the pagoda since 1985. It had a big restoration in 1990. |
The pagoda has a flower garden called Long HoaVien with a 49m-long carved dragon winding around a statue of Mitreya. |
The fins of the dragon are made from pieces of 50,000 glass bottles. |
Adjacent to the dragon is a lake and an artificial mountain with a Mitreya statue sitting on it. |
The central chamber is large and solemn and has two rows of columns with terracotta-inlaid dragons. |
Above these pillars are bas-reliefs describing the history of Sakyamuni. |

A 36m-high tower with seven layers is situated in front of the garden. The tower worships Buddha, preserves shariras and serves as a museum. This is the highest pagoda tower in Da Lat. |
The great bell, built in 1999, is 2.34m in diameter, 4.38m in height and 8.500kg in weight and is considered the largest bell in Vietnam. |
