Here are five most beautiful monasteries in southern Vietnam:

Phuong Nam Truc Lam Zen Monastery in Can Tho city

Built on an area of four hectares and featuring a hall with a capacity of 500 people, the Phuong Nam Monastery, with Venerable Thich Binh Tam appointed as its abbot, is the largest Buddhist temple in the Mekong Delta region.

The project cost a total of VND145 billion (US$6.8 million), with funding from donors throughout the country in a campaign started by General Pham Van Tra, former minister of defence.

The Zen monastery is designed with a grand hall, a conference-hall with a capacity of 500 Buddhists, a 9-storey tower, a library, a guest-house, a health room and other items.

Chon Khong Monastery

Chon Khong Monastery is located on the slope of Big Mountain in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

It was built in 1966 to meet the religious needs of the people. Since its inception, the monastery was restored several times to look spacious and ancient as it is today.

Thuong Chieu Monastery

Thuong Chieu Monastery was built in August 1974 in Phuoc Thai village, Dong Nai province. 

Starting at milestone 76 on National Highway 51, Thuong Chieu Monastery will catch visitors’ eyes thanks to strikingly red-flowered trellis above its gate.

 A majestic three-door gate will take them to the breezy and peaceful grounds of the area.
