Mourners carrying flowers showed their boundless regrets for the revered General.
Many could not hold back their tears, lining up in front of the house where the General had lived with his family.
Hang, an old woman living on Hoang Hoa Tham street, said she was saddened hearing the news the General had passed away.
Among the mourners were many war veterans, including Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen who worked with General Giap during the two past resistance struggles against French colonists and American imperialists.
