Indian Holi Festival of Colours in Hanoi

(VOV) - The Indian Chamber of Commerce on March 23 organised Hindu people’s Holi Festival of Colours to mark the beginning of spring. 


Approximately 200 people, mostly foreigners, took part in the festival 

In India, Holi usually takes place in March
It signifies the end of a cold winter and welcome a colourful spring

Color symbolizes energy, life, joy and the arrival of spring

Indian people believe those who get more colours will have more good luck

They traditionally paint colour on their faces to  wish “Happy Holi”

The festival originates from folklore and legends of Hindu people in the struggle between good and evil. 

The highlight of the festival is that people throwing colours over each other.


The festival celebrates victory of good over evil and worships Vishnu Genie 

The colourful festival takes place in cold weather

It is the first time Hanoi has hosted the festival
