Ancient village at harvest time

(VOV) - Local villagers in Duong Lam, a tourist attraction in Hanoi’s Son Tay town, are hard at work from dawn to dusk, harvesting the main rice crop.

Up to 90 percent of the villagers, recognised as aNational Cultural Historical Site in 2005, live off the revenue from rice production.

The local young people are no longer content with labourious and low-paying farming work, and they move to urban areas to seek better jobs, leaving village elders to harvest the season’s bumper rice crop.

Visitors to Duong Lam currently have the chance to experience a typical Vietnamese agricultural village at its busiest time of the year.
