Overseas Vietnamese have so far invested nearly US$100 million in 60 projects in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, significantly contributing to its economic development.

Various enterprises run by overseas Vietnamese are doing good business in Vung Tau, including Thuan Lap, a construction materials manufacturer, and Viet Thang Loi, a shrimp raising and culturing company.

Apart from substantial investments, overseas Vietnamese are increasingly sending remittances to their relatives in the province every year.

The province’s success is largely attributed to the positive steps taken by local authorities to attract investment from overseas Vietnamese, such as promotion programmes, the establishment of a specialised agency dedicated to this issue, and meetings to collect proposals and feedback from the community.
