Young recruits across Vietnam embark on military service

In 2026, Hanoi has 4,000 residents enlisting in the armed forces, including 2,428 volunteers. Among the new recruits, 30% hold university, college or vocational qualifications. The intake also includes 164 members of the Communist Party, while 2,277 individuals have completed preparatory training courses for prospective Party members.

Central Highlands conscription handover: In Dak Lak province, 5,449 citizens have been called up, including 4,600 assigned to military service and 849 to the public security forces. Among the new recruits, 167 hold university degrees, 155 have college qualifications, and 21 possess vocational training certificates.

Military service is compulsory for Vietnamese men from 18 to 25 years of age, and it is extended to 27 for those who apply for a delay to pursue higher education degrees.
