Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his entourage arrive in Tianjin, China, on June 24 to begin the working visit and participate in WEF Tianjin 2025.

Shortly after his arrival, the Prime Minister attends a Vietnam - China business forum, where he emphasises that businesses should not only connect the two economies for mutual benefit, but also strengthen the important emotional ties between the two countries.

During his meeting Ge Haiqiao, chairman of the Board of the Bank of China (BOC), the PM asks BOC to help connect partners, investors, and experts in finance to jointly build, operate, and develop the future international financial centre in Vietnam.

On June 25, PM Pham Minh Chinh attends the opening plenary of WEF Tianjin 2025, bringing together more than 1,700 delegates including senior leaders, ministry representatives, international organisations, experts, scholars, and business leaders from nearly 100 countries.

After the opening session, PM Pham Minh Chinh participates in the policy dialogue “A New Era for Vietnam: From Vision to Action,” moderated by WEF President Borge Brende. He emphasises that Vietnam seeks to build an independent, self-reliant economy rooted in its people, sending the message that Vietnam is ready for breakthrough development.

As part of the WEF Tianjin 2025 agenda, PM Pham Minh Chinh joins a session themed “Is Asia’s Century at Rsisk?”. He proposed five strategic “pioneers” for Asia and introduced two initiatives, namely establishing an Asia Innovation Network led by the WEF and China to connect research institutes, universities, and businesses, and creating an Asia Innovation Portal, an online platform to effectively support SMEs and startups. PM Pham Minh Chinh also holds meetings with Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, chairman ad interim of the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, and Børge Brende, WEF President. On June 25 evening, PM Pham Minh Chinh meets with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in China.

Meeting with Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee on June 26, PM Pham Minh Chinh proposes that Shanghai open further to Vietnam’s key exports and deepen cooperation in tourism, culture, sports, education, and training. He also affirms that Vietnam welcomes and is ready to facilitate Shanghai businesses in expanding investment in the country.

The PM then visits the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and rings the opening bell. He proposes that SSE continue close and effective cooperation with Vietnam’s stock exchanges to support the development of Vietnam’s stock market and international financial centre.

On June 26 afternoon, PM Pham Minh Chinh visits the Memorial Hall of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Signing the guestbook at the site, he expresses admiration, congratulations, learning, and shared appreciation for the CPC’s humanitarian, significant, and grand achievements in leading the revolution and building the nation into one that is civilised, prosperous, harmonious, and modern.

Later that day, PM Pham Minh Chinh tours and studies the development experiences of Pudong district in Shanghai. He highlights important lessons from Pudong and Shanghai’s development, including advanced planning, financial resources, human resource training, and selecting core technologies.
