District 7 is one of the first localities that have been selected to pilot a “new normal” plan to restore the local economy after months of implementing social distancing measures against COVID-19.

Workers at Tan Thuan export processing zone (EPZ) will also be permitted to resume their job from September 15, helping them to make ends meet during the COVID-19 fight.

District 7 has established a socio-economic development research centre that focuses on creating favourable conditions for export processing zones and industrial parks to resume operation.

In Tan Thuan EPZ over 50,000 workers have already received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose, with more than half of them getting their second inoculation. Apart from 110 businesses operating on a “three-on-spot” model, other businesses are set to resume operation from September 15.

District 7 will also pilot “COVID-19 green cards” from September 15 to control people’s travel through personal QR codes as it begins the new normal status.
