Blue whales spotted off south-central Vietnamese coast

Whales have appeared off the coast of Vung Boi-De Gi beach close to Quy Nhon in central Vietnam over the past three weeks. Many local people have flocked to the area to capture some of the exciting images of a pod of whales.

The sea mammals typically are five to seven metres long for small ones and up to 15 metres long for big ones.

Toan found two blue whales swimming in the waters off the Hon Trau Island on July 26, an area which is situated 45 minutes from De Gi beach by canoe.

The witness said that the blue whales appeared to be hunting close to the shore.

The most recent time he saw the blue whales was on the morning of August 6 when they were rising from the water with their mouths open and seagulls were flying above them, Toan shared.
