A Road of Flags: National pride flutters across Muong Thanh rice field

Along a 500-meter path cutting through the rice fields, nearly 200 national flags have been planted in straight rows, each spaced 5m apart, forming a radiant red corridor standing out against the vibrant green of the rice.

The idea for the “National Flag Road” project is initiated by Dien Bien Tourism Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Dien Bien Provincial Youth Union.

A symbolic project in the heart of the Muong Thanh rice field not only offers an impressive scene but also spreads the spirit of patriotism and national pride.

According to Phan Thach Thanh, director of Dien Bien Tourism Co., Ltd., the project has been conceived a month earlier with the desire to create a special highlight for Dien Bien in celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2).

Over the course of nearly a week, with the participation of 20 youth union members, the National Flag Road has been completed, quickly attracting large numbers of local residents and tourists of all ages.

The road is not only a scenic highlight but also a vivid symbol of solidarity and national pride on the occasion of the 80th National Day.

Beyond being a symbolic youth project, the “National Flag Road” also serves as a powerful visual form of communication, helping to foster patriotic pride and national spirit among the people during the National Day celebrations.

Following the success in Muong Thanh, the project is expected to be extended to Pu Nhi commune of Dien Bien province, where 400 national flags are to be planted across terraced rice fields at two locations.
