60,000-seat PVF stadium takes shape after a year of construction

The PVF Stadium, a project invested in by the Ministry of Public Security, is part of a sports and services complex covering approximately 92 hectares. With a planned capacity of 60,000 spectators and a footprint of about 55,000 square metres, the stadium is being developed with the aim of meeting FIFA standards and hosting international sporting events.

Since the groundbreaking ceremony on October 19, 2025, work has continued in multiple shifts throughout the day and night. Thousands of engineers and workers, supported by specialised machinery and equipment, have been mobilised to keep the project on schedule for completion in March 2027.

One of the stadium’s most striking features is its large retractable roof. The roof structure has now been lifted to its designed position and height, marking a major milestone in construction. The lifting method is being used for the first time at a stadium in Vietnam.

The roof structure weighs approximately 8,600 tonnes. Once completed, the automated system will be able to open or close the roof fully within 12 to 20 minutes, making PVF the first stadium in Vietnam to feature an automated retractable roof.

The stadium design also includes a glass wall measuring 36 metres high and 55 metres wide at one end of the venue. It is intended to maximise natural light while creating a flexible space for activities inside the stadium.

Inside the stadium, the main structural work on the stands is largely complete. Workers are now installing seats, cleaning the area and finishing facilities for spectators.

Rows of yellow seats are gradually appearing across Stands A, B, C and D, with seats being delivered and fitted in each section according to the design.

Walkways linking different levels of the stands are also under construction to facilitate spectators’ movement around the venue once it opens.

A multi-purpose indoor arena with a capacity of approximately 4,500 seats is also being built next to the main stadium. It will form part of the wider sports complex, providing additional space for training, competitions and indoor events.

With a capacity of 60,000, PVF Stadium will surpass My Dinh National Stadium, which holds approximately 40,000 spectators, to become Vietnam’s largest stadium. It is being developed with the aim of hosting international matches and major sporting events in the future.

The stadium is approximately a 30-minute drive from central Hanoi and offers access to the Hanoi–Hai Phong and Hanoi–Bac Giang expressways, facilitating travel for spectators from different areas.
