More than 60,000 pilgrims flock to Hung Kings Temple Festival in first three days
VOV.VN - More than 60,000 people travelled to Phu Tho province in the first three days of the Hung Kings Temple Festival and the Ancestors Land Culture and Tourism Week 2026 to offer incense in tribute to the Hung Kings and take part in cultural and artistic activities.
The 2026 festival is being held on a large scale, with an expanded space in terms of geography, culture and development potential following the merger of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh provinces.
The opening programme, themed “Sacred Origins – Hung Kings Ancestral Land”, features performances that honour and preserve national historical and cultural values and convey the tradition of gratitude to ancestors.
Organisers have also arranged cultural and sports activities, including a provincial mass arts festival with participation from art troupes representing 18 clusters across the province, and sports events involving more than 400 athletes from 82 units.
A cultural camp has drawn strong public interest, with participation from 18 commune- and ward-level clusters. The camp presents traditional cultural life and introduces the people and the ancestral land.
Other activities include the Ancestors Land Book Fair; exhibitions themed “Phu Tho – Converging traditions, spreading the future” and “Hung Kings era culture – a convergence of essence”; and a night tour titled “Hung Temple -Sacred Origins”.
Despite periods of heavy rain, organisers reported that more than 60,000 people visited the ancestral land in the first three days to take part in festival activities. Lines of visitors moved slowly to Ha, Trung and Thuong temples to offer incense in an orderly and solemn manner.
For many, the journey to the Hung Kings Temple is a return to their roots and a way to reconnect with national cultural traditions.
The Hung Kings Commemoration Day, the Hung Kings Temple Festival and the Ancestors Land Culture and Tourism Week 2026 are held at provincial level from April 17 to 26 (the 1st to the 10th day of the third lunar month) at the Hung Kings Temple Historical Site in Phu Tho province and across communes and wards in the province.
