Hanoi readies to illuminate the sky with spectacular fireworks for Lunar New Year

To serve residents during the New Year, Hanoi has set up 33 sites with 34 fireworks batteries for Lunar New Year’s Eve of the Year of the Horse 2026.

At the Hoan Kiem Lake area, two fireworks sites are being set up with a large number of fireworks to serve the public.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoa, commander of the Area 3 Hong Ha Defense Military Command in Hanoi, said: “We have identified the construction of fireworks sites and the connection of fireworks systems as work that requires meticulous attention to every detail. In our role of directly overseeing the launch at 12 sites in the Hong Ha area, officers and soldiers are determined to finalize preparations fully, in line with the approved plan, and to ensure absolute safety.”

With around 1,400 high-altitude fireworks, 120 low-altitude racks and 90 pyrotechnic sets, residents in the Hoan Kiem Lake area will view a three-tier display, ranging from pyrotechnics and low-altitude effects to high-altitude fireworks.

Heavy turnout is expected at the Hoan Kiem Lake area tonight, with safety given top priority. Functional forces have prepared traffic control and site protection plans to prevent incidents such as crowding and pushing that occurred in the past.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoa, to ensure safety, residents are advised to strictly comply with regulations. “Everyone should remain behind the safety barriers and avoid crowding or pushing, creating the best conditions for functional forces to carry out their duties,” he said.
