A modern poultry slaughter house was put into operation on June 30 in the Loteco Industrial Zone of southern Dong Nai province by Unitek, an Australian processed poultry supplier.

Covering 2.3 ha, the plant houses a 4,000 sq.m-workshop installed with an advanced French production line, a European standard-processing area and a freezing building.

The US$6-million factory is designed to process 6,000 chickens per hour. The facility will help satisfy the growing demand for safe poultry products of not only domestic customers but also importers from a number of Asian countries, where bird flu cases are still being reported.

All the live poultry will be strictly quarantined by the provincial Veterinary Department before being processed at the house.
