The Mekong Enterprise Fund II announced on December 20 that it has invested US$4 million into the MK Smart Card Joint Venture Company – a leading plastic card manufacturer in Vietnam .

The Mekong Enterprise Fund II is a US$50 million private-owned business that specialises in investing in private companies which have not yet listed on the stock exchange.

MK Smart is a leading GSM SIM card and scratch-off pre-paid card manufacturer in Vietnam . It operates a manufacturing facility on 10,500 square meters within Quang Minh Industrial Zone in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

MK Smart provides cards to various leading businesses in Vietnam, such as ATM cards for Sacombank, Techcombank, Eximbank, Eastern Asia Bank, customer cards for Vietnam Airlines, Prudential, AIA, Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam, Honda and Ford, warranty cards for Motorola, Sony Ericsson, key cards for Hilton, Sheraton, Sofitel Plaza, Sofitel Metropole hotels, and ID cards for businesses.
