HCM City’s CPI for August edges up 0.05%

(VOV) - The consumer price index (CPI) for August in Ho Chi Minh City rose 0.05% over July, according to the municipal Statistics Office.

Since August of last year the City’s CPI has increased by 4.93%.

Five out of the 11 baskets of goods witnessing price hikes for the month are foodstuffs and dining-out services (0.32%), drinking and cigarette (0.05%), garment and education (0.10%) and other goods and services (0.17%).

Four baskets of goods seeing declines during the month include housing, electricity, water and fuel (0.74%), home utensils (0.15%), transport (0.02%) and culture and entertainment (0.01%). Meanwhile medicine, medical service and post and communications remained unchanged.
