Vietnam’s largest coal-fueled power station will be built at the Nam Du archipelago in southern Kien Giang province.
The Kien Luong power plant with a design capacity of around 7.8 billion kWh a year, is part of a US$6.7 billion power project signed in Hanoi on April 17.
Construction work will start in 2009 and is expected to be completed in 2018.
Project contractors include the Tan Tao group, the Electricity Construction Consultancy Company No.2, the US’s Black&Veatch company and China’s FHDI company.
