The Lao newspaper Pasason ran an editorial on September 1 highlighting the significance of Vietnam’s revolutionary achievements.

The paper said Vietnam’s victory and revolutionary achievements have had positive impacts on the Lao revolution’s development because the two countries’ revolutions have a special relationship. It said the victory of the 1945 August Revolution in Vietnam created favourable conditions for the Lao people to gain independence on October 12, 1945. Similarly, Vietnam’s glorious victory in April 1975 prompted the formation of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in December 1975.

The paper also reviewed Vietnam’s achievements in its national construction and defence over the past 61 years, and spoke highly of the long-standing relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
