(VOV) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in collaboration with the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan and the Vietnam Business Association organized a business forum on June 12 in Tokyo, aiming to mobilize support from the Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) community.
In a keynote address, Vietnam Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung highlighted the significant contributions that OVs have made to the country over the past few years and affirmed the Party and State’s recognition of their importance to national unity.
Duong Hoang Minh, head of a contingent from the MoIT in turn affirmed that OVs are an invaluable asset of the country and a powerful force propelling the economic and social development of the nation forward.
Minh said the OVs community serve as a connecting bridge and link between citizens of Vietnam and peoples of Japan effectively serving as goodwill ambassadors enhancing international relations.
In recent years, the Vietnam government has issued a large number of favourable policies for OVs, such as the 2008 Nationality Law and the Land and Housing Law, which have positively impacted the OVs community.
Minh expressed hope that the comprehensive development of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties and these favourable policies would encourage OVs in Japan to invest in the homeland.
