Mekong Forum seeks stronger trade and investment affiliation
(VOV) - Government officials, experts and businesspeople from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV) gathered at the 2015 Mekong Forum in Vientiane on October 15 to examine ways to bolster trade and investment cooperation.
In a keynote address, Chairman Phuong Huu Viet of the CLV Association for Economic Cooperation Development, said the forum provided a good chance to talk about the impact of the AEC, connectivity between ASEAN and the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) among other business issues.
It also pointed out the pros and cons and gave recommendations on how to grasp opportunities and cope with challenges to make their in line with AEC requirements.
Issues were also tabled included a common framework of the AEC, Vietnam-ASEAN investment and cooperation, AEC prospects, connectivity between ASEAN and GMS, Lao exports and human resource training.
Additionally, participants agreed that Vietnam has fully executed commitments and promoted ASEAN cooperation in dealing with arising issues in the region.
The country has also actively worked with the regional bloc towards building a roadmap and a post 2015 vision for a shared ASEAN Community, they said.
